ABANDONED TEMPLES

Toward the sunset
Toward life's end
There awaits
An awakening
And a new vision
Of the universe

Laughter is a mix
Of someone else's imaginings
Sorrow resides
At ill-fated beginnings

Everyone needs a vista
To see beyond themselves
Because there are no answers within

Even though you don't know
What it is you're searching for
Keep searching
It's either there or it's not
And surely you won't find it
If you're too close to home

Those who see a guiding light
In the minds of men
Are fooled by apparitions
That flood the corners
And light the dark hallways
Of abandoned temples

At the edge of understanding
Like a dream that haunts you
It takes you along for a ride
On a hot summer afternoon
With the windows down

I practice non-commitment
To the practice of
Explaining myself
Because once my thoughts
Leave me
They're no longer mine

The mountainous regions
Proclaim the coming of the King
What other place can there be
Metaphorically analogous?
